Agoura Hills - Erin & Bob Pearson

Just 30 minutes northwest of Los Angeles, Agoura Hills is rooted in early California history. First settled by the native-American Chumash and later colonized by the Franciscan missionaries in the late 18th Century, the heart of Fr. Serra’s El Camino Real was established right here.

Hollywood film companies including Paramount and 20th Century Fox made their filming homes in this area, with remnants of this rich history at the Paramount Ranch with its Western Town, now an attraction for tourists with hiking, picnicking, mountain biking, and horseback riding nearby. Sample wines from some of the more than 50 independent vineyards in the local Santa Monica Mountains at the elegant Cornell Winery and Tasting Room, or visit some of the wineries themselves in the neighboring mountains.

As the gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, and only a 20 minute drive to the beaches at Malibu (with a summer “Beach Bus” for the kids), the opportunities for outdoor recreation are endless. Agoura Hills harkens back to a simpler way of life filled with open space, clean air, low crime, natural beauty, and peace and tranquility.

With a very easy commute to the San Fernando valley, downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Santa Monica, nowhere else can one find excellent public schools, vast open space, and neighborhoods and parks so close to the city. Rural meets suburbia with the best of boutique stores, artisanal crafted goods, antiques, eclectic food, and event venues such as the Canyon Club with name bands performing on a regular basis. In addition to employers such as Bank of America, Teradyne, IBM, and Farmers Insurance, the Los Angeles Rams will make Agoura Hills their corporate headquarters through 2019.

The coastal ranges create warm days and nights here most of the year and make for lovely evening alfresco dining by the pool; the very definition of Southern California living.
